A vegetated swale made up of eight treatment cells designed to remove phosphorus and other contaminants will treat stormwater from a 40-acre subdivision before it enters Lake Whatcom.

New stormwater treatment facilities in the Brownsville neighborhood include vegetated swales, a raised and widened stream channel, stabilized slopes, and stormwater vaults to promote infiltration, filter phosphorus-containing sediment, reduce erosion, and reduce flooding along the Silver Beach Creek.
